Test Strategy development and coverage analysis
The optimal method for testing a board depends on various factors, including the circuit design and other considerations, such as:
- Production volume: The test processes you might employ for a build of 100 units a year will likely be different from what you would do for a build of 100 units per hour.
- Production operator: Is the test process going to be run by a highly skilled technician or a low skilled operator?
- Test outcome: Does the test provide diagnostics for fixing failing boards, or simply reject them?
We will collaborate with you to understand the requirements and develop a cost-efficient test strategy.
Based on the chosen strategy, we can analyse the circuit design to produce a detailed test coverage analysis. This will help you understand which parts of your design are tested for various types of manufacturing failures.
Boundary Scan Test Development
Boundary scan testing is an established technology that is increasingly valuable as digital circuits continue to reduce in size and increase in density.

Functional Test Development
We create functional test solutions using the J-Testr solution, from Eiger Design, or we can create a completely bespoke solution.
The first stage of functional testing is to analyzing your circuit and divide it into "functional blocks," which can be tested reasonably independently to achieve effective diagnostics and fault isolation.
A typical test implementation starts with the power supplies, checking for voltage, load capability, transient response, etc, and then works through each of the other functional blocks of the board using a combination of digital (boundary scan where available) and analogue stimulation and measurement.
